Violences xénophobes : consulat et magasin sud-africains attaqués en RDC
Le consulat d’Afrique du Sud et un magasin sud-africain ont été attaqués jeudi à Lubumbashi, deuxième ville de la République démocratique du Congo, en marge de manifestations contre les violences xénophobes à Johannesburg, a constaté un correspondant de l’AFP.
Plusieurs dizaines de personnes se sont rassemblées devant le consulat d’Afrique du Sud à Lubumbashi (sud-est) à l’appel d’ONG. Des manifestants ont ensuite caillassé les vitrines du consulat, d’après le correspondant.
Un magasin de l’enseigne MRP/Mister Price a ensuite été pillé, selon cette même source, confirmant de nombreuses vidéos sur les réseaux sociaux.
Un ou deux pilleurs présumés auraient été blessés par la police dans la répression du pillage du magasin, d’après des témoignages.
“Nous désapprouvons et condamnons les attaques/pillages et tentatives de pillage en cours contre les propriétés sud-africaines ou présumées telles”, a réagi le mouvement citoyen Lutte pour le changement (Lucha) sur Twitter.
“On ne dénonce pas la violence par la violence”
“On ne dénonce pas la violence par la violence! Nous appelons la police à stopper les pillards sans force excessive/létale”, a ajouté Lucha.
Les scènes de pillage de l’enseigne MRP étaient partagés sur les réseaux sociaux.
Mercredi, l’ambassade de RDC à Pretoria avait invité les Congolais résidant en Afrique du Sud à “une prudence accrue dans leurs déplacements”, voire à “s’abstenir momentanément de toute activité, si nécessaire”.
Des violences dirigées contre des étrangers ont fait sept morts depuis dimanche en Afrique du Sud, faisant sept morts dans la région de Johannesburg. Des dizaines de magasins ont été détruits et des camions soupçonnés d‘être conduits par des étrangers ont également été brûlés.
Cette flambée de violences a suscité inquiétude et colère dans plusieurs pays africains qui comptent de nombreux ressortissants en Afrique du Sud, dont la RDC et le Nigeria.
